pfsense continually reboots

pfsense continually reboots and seems to be in a long loop of reboots with the last message on serial console being "reset proxy stopped CPU1"

From the serial console:-

Boot into safe mode if possible.

Power cycle the pfSense box while you have your USB connected and PuTTY open
When you see the pfSense boot screen press 2 at the prompt
Hit enter at the shell prompt

Run FSCK
/sbin/fsck -p

Then run
/sbin/fsck -y

you may need to run these commands over twice in total until the report comes back. "File system clean"

Reboot
/sbin/reboot

if you still have a pfSense boot loop, then you may have a bad hard disk or controller.
